Oslo, 23-26 September 2010
The International Peace Bureau (IPB) is organising a major international conference to mark its ‘Nobel-centenary year’.
One hundred years ago, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to the International Peace Bureau (IPB). With this decision the Norwegian Nobel Committee recognized the leading role of the IPB in the international movement for peace and disarmament. Founded in 1891 in Bern, the IPB was at the time a unique co-operative structure, bringing radical, as well as liberal and conservative, champions of peace together in one organization.
Highlights of the conference will include a keynote address by Federico Mayor, a Spanish scholar and politician, who served as Director-General of UNESCO from 1987 to 1999.
